All brides have the perfect image of how they want to look on their wedding day.  The perfect dress, the flawless hair, the designer shoes – not to mention the detailing, the something borrowed and something blue… but what’s the use in all of this if you don’t feel great on the inside too?

It was the run up to my own wedding day 18 months ago that first enticed me to the gym; I wanted to look fit and fabulous for my big day… but what I actually got was so much more.  To start with being fit and healthy gave me the confidence to get my butt down the isle in front of ALL of our friends and family; but more importantly it gave me the energy to enjoy every second of what was an extremely long and tiring day.

See, being fit and healthy isn’t just about fitting into your dress – it’s about feeling happy and secure in yourself; feeling nice and relaxed, and being ready for anything the day throws your way!

So for my first post I wanted to give you an introduction to ‘how to feel great inside and out’ – ready for your big day:

Eat Pretty

It’s not just a good mask and expensive make up that will help get your skin photo-ready.  Actually, what you put into your body is just as – if not more important – at keeping those pesky spots at bay.

First and foremost for great skin you’ll want to make sure you are staying hydrated – and I don’t just mean on your wedding day, I mean from now until forever!  And if the thought of drinking 2 litres of water a day doesn’t appeal to you, go grab yourself a ‘fruit infuser’ water bottle and ‘pimp’ up your water with lemons, oranges & blueberries etc.

A few of my other eat pretty foods are; avocado’s, blueberries, leafy greens, peppers, tomatoes, coconut oil and chia seeds.

I make a great little afternoon snack of a couple of squares of dark chocolate (70% plus), a small handful of blueberries/raspberries, a sprinkle of chia seeds and some unsweetened coconut flakes.  Your tastebuds and your body will thank me for it!

Be Fit and Fabulous

We all know that being the ‘bride to be’ is a busy and often stressful time.  For a start theres the venue hunting, the menu tasting, dress searching and wedding ring shopping; and amidst all this you still have to go about your everyday life, working 9-5, keeping on top of the housework, needless to mention keeping your husband to be well fed and happy!!

‘Where will I find the time to exercise’ I hear you cry!

Well research suggests High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) can help us burn even more fat, not only throughout your workout but during the rest period afterwards… and whats even better – you can get a great HIIT workout in less than 10minutes will little to no equipment.

I suggest starting with Tabata, a style of HIIT which see’s you go all out for 20seconds, followed by a 10 second rest for 8 rounds, times this by 2 and you have a simple and effective workout.

Try the below to get you started:

2 rounds of:

Max mountain Climbers x 20 secs, rest 10 secs

Max Air Squats x 20 secs, rest 10 secs

Repeat 4 times

Rest one minute between rounds

So, there you have it – I hope my first post has inspired you to get fit and healthy ready for your big day.  I can’t wait to write some more to keep you motivated along the way – please comment below with any questions you may have and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and twitter for regular updates
