Technology was supposed to help solve our problems, but planning a wedding in the modern world can feel even more of a strain than back in those dark ages before the internet. Nowadays, there’s a thousand more things to worry about than just the seating arrangements —you’ve got to dream up the perfect captions for your social media snaps, your hair and makeup have to be Instagram-ready, and you even have to consider whether you need a dedicated wedding hashtag (spoiler: you really don’t). But luckily some kind souls have taken pity on the modern bride, and developed these brilliant wedding apps help you plan your perfect day:

  1. Paperless Post

Save yourself from licking hundreds of wedding invitation envelopes (while, ahem, more importantly, saving the planet) with Paperless Post’s online invites. Banish all thought of ugly chain emails — they have a huge range of sleek designs available, which can also be customised to fit personal preference. And the RSVP-tracking feature makes keeping tabs on responses a breeze.

  1. Appy Couple

This can be used alongside apps like Paperless Post to manage digital invites. But the really great thing about Appy Couple (besides the puntastic name) is how you can use it as a kind of wedding encyclopaedia for attendees, bringing essential info like maps, timings and accommodation options together in one place. Just create an account, share the invite with your guests (who then download the app themselves), and they’ll have your wedding bible always at their fingertips.

  1. Fat Llama

Got your heart set on something showstopping for the big day, but no idea where you’re going to get it from? Worried you’ll have to buy it, for use on one day and one day only? Enter Fat Llama, a platform where you can lend and borrow (almost) anything from people nearby — from classic cars to camera lenses, dancefloors to drones. And because you’re borrowing from other people, rental prices are substantially lower than traditional hire houses.

  1. Wed Pics

“Spend more time enjoying your memories and less time chasing them down” is this app’s motto — amen to that. There’ll be so much tipsy snapping on the night that you’ll never be able to collect every precious, blurry memory yourself — but Wed Pics is on hand to martial the troops. Create an account, and your guests can add to it with pics of the day as seen from their perspective. Simple!

  1. Blurb

Once you’ve pored over the pictures, weeded out anything naughty and selected your favourites, use handy app Blurb to design your own wedding album. It’ll arrive on your doorstep as a soft or hardcover book, and, while you’re perfecting the design, you can share it online with family and friends to get their input (whether you choose to listen to it or not is optional).
