Find out how to pull off an unforgettable Winter wedding…

Book your dream wedding venue well in advance of the big day! It’s highly likely that your venue will be holding Christmas parties throughout December. You don’t want it to get booked up before you get a chance to choose your ideal date.

As soon as you know the date of your Winter wedding, send out the ‘save the dates’. Guests will be spending December visiting family and friends, so sending out invitations early will avoid any clashes!

It’s time to start thinking about your Christmas wedding colour scheme. There are plenty of festive themes to choose from! Red and green, glittering gold or a Winter wonderland colour scheme all look beautiful.

When it comes to Christmas weddings, candles are an absolute essential! They’ll add to your venue décor and will help to make even the simplest of venues look festive and cosy. Use small tea lights as part of your centrepieces, or line the ceremony aisle with tall pillar candles. Your venue will have a beautiful warm glow!

Here at Bridal Chic, we feel that mistletoe is a must-have at any Christmas wedding. We suggest hanging it above the entrance to your wedding venue or above your ceremony space, so that you can work the Christmas tradition in with your nuptials.

A Christmas wedding always needs a Christmas tree, and you can get seriously creative with how you use it at your wedding venue. For instance, you could simply decorate a Christmas tree and use it as part of your wedding venue décor. Alternatively, you could ask your guests to write a special message on a decoration so that they can hang it on the Christmas tree throughout your special day – this is a lovely alternative to a traditional guest book. Small Christmas trees make wonderful table centrepieces, or you could even offer your guests tiny Christmas trees in little pots as wedding favours.

Stuck for ideas on how to keep the children entertained at your Christmas wedding? Then listen up folks! If you’re having a designated kids’ table during the reception, why not provide a small stocking for each child brimming with puzzles, games and colouring books. They’ll adore opening them and discovering their new presents. Alternatively, you could ask Father Christmas to visit during the reception to meet the children – both the younger guests and adults will find his visit magical.

Why not opt for a scrumptious Christmas cake as your wedding cake? There are so many beautiful ways to decorate a Winter wedding cake too: adorn it with pine cones, Winter berries or sparkling icing!

Let’s talk about festive food: prepare to get hungry! Drink stations have recently become a huge hit at weddings, so why not create a self-serve mulled wine or hot chocolate bar? It’s a fabulous way to keep your guests warm and cosy, and they’ll love the seasonal treat. Mince pies make delicious alternatives to traditional canapés, but your guests will also appreciate them as wedding favours.

Don’t forget that you’ll need to wrap up warm for your enchanting Christmas wedding. A chic leather jacket from the high street will look oh-so-stylish, but we also love the thought of a luxurious faux fur shrug to keep you feeling toasty.

There really is nothing more magical than a Christmas wedding. It’s a wonderful way to kick-start the festive season!
